Back Forward Cycling Along the Droitwich Canal at Salwarpe [August 2005]

In August 2005 we trundled along the Droitwich Canal when it was overgrown and the path rather less defined than it was after improvements. It would be a few years before the efforts of the Droitwich Canal Trust, local volunteers and British Waterways were realised and the canal reopened to barge traffic. The ducks may have preferred the place as it was! We shared some of our sandwiches with them at least. From here we cycled to the lock at Ladywood and up the hill to the Bowling Green at Hadley where we refuelled with some Timothy Taylor Landlord Bitter before making our way to the Fruiterers' Arms at Uphampton. It was a splendid day out.
