Britannia Inn | Leicester |
|
The name Goadby is that of my Great Grandmother, Louisa Elizabeth Goadby
who was born in
Market Bosworth in 1858. She worked for a while for her brother John
at the
Britannia Inn. According to all the census since 1841, he was also
born in
Market Bosworth. His wife Elizabeth nee Rolfe was born in Amersham,
Buckinghamshire. Prior to returning to
Leicester they had lived in
Harrogate, where their children Eleanora Louise and Frank Archibald were
born. Having read the information on your website it would seem that the
places are out of sync with what I have researched, could you tell me
how you came to those conclusions? |

Palmerston-Arms | Leicester |
|
I am looking for information on the Palmerston Arms located at 83 Taylor
Street, Leicester. My great grandparents William Henry and Maud Ada
Johnson owned or managed this pub in the early 1900's. It doesn't appear
to exist these days (or else the name has changed). Any information
would be gratefully appreciated. |

Joseph Yelfs ~ Publican | Leicester |
|
I am looking for the name and any information about a pub owned by my
great great grandfather, Joseph Yelfs, in 1875-6. On his daughter,
Lucy's, marriage certificate he is listed as a "Publican" at 35 Burgess
Street in Leicester in this year, but in trade directories I have had no
luck in finding this pub. If anyone has run across information that
might pertain to this I would be thrilled to know. |
