This sign, located near Wychbury Ring at Hagley in Worcestershire, shows a cautious pair of badgers emerging from their underground sett to go foraging. A badger's life centres around such a sett, an underground haven made of chambers and tunnels about 10-20 yards long and with several entrances. It is kept clean by both boar and sow bringing in fresh bedding or bracken, dry leaves, grass and bluebells on fine nights. The sett is usually excavated in a woodland hillside where their is some cover from undergrowth and is accessible to a badger's hunting ground. A pub with this sign is naturally located close to recognised badger country and this one is no exception. The woods at Wychbury and Clent are close by. The pub, however, was previously known as the Gipsy's Tent.

This inn sign was found on a modern pub located close to Haymarket Centre on Leicester's Belgrave Gate. The sign has the name of Mitchell's and Butler's so presumably this sign was commissioned by the Cape Hill brewery. The sign is perhaps a reference to the neighbouring Haymarket Theatre. Artists and writers are celebrated as people who lives and act free of regard for conventional rules and practices.

The name of this former beer house in Leicester's Belgrave Gate may have changed slightly over the years. Although it is now trading as the Bowl Turner's Arms, it has been listed as the Bowl Maker's Arms. The origins of the pub's name can be found in the 1861 census in which Loughborough-born Thomas Cattell is recorded as a "turner of bowls." He kept the pub with his Kilby-born wife Frances for a generation. The pub was, for many years during the 20th century, operated by Shipstone's but this sign was probably commissioned by Greenall Whitley who took over the pub when they acquired the Basford brewery.
