A Halfway House sign generally indicates that the pub is halfway between one place and another. Sometimes this is obvious and, at other times, it isn't easy to figure out which two places it refers to. This is because some old inns on Britain's ancient highways are halfway between two towns that have since lost their importance or significance. This sign can be found between Carters Green and Black Lake near West Bromwich so I assumed the pub was halfway between West Bromwich and Wednesbury. However the licensee had her own theory - after years of serving the customers here she reckons it's halfway between All Saints and St.Margaret's!! I think she meant that her regulars were all getting on a bit!
