The first traditional hanging board sign here can be found in the Derbyshire town of Bakewell. The second is a superb ceramic sign mounted in the gable of The Peacock Hotel in Darwin Stret, Birmingham. This was applied to the pub when it was given a facelift in 1933/4. The Peacock belongs to the pheasant family, Phasianidae (order Galliformes). It is the male that is the peacock for the female is called a peahen. However both are peafowl. Originating from the forests of India and S.E. Asia.
