I'm not too sure how a pub in Winson Green got to have a Yorkshire horse on its sign. Perhaps the Mitchell's and Butler's brewery at nearby Cape Hill used the breed to haul their drays around. Anyone know if this is the case? The Yorkshire Grey is a breed of the Shire Horse. These massive animals can be traced back to medieval times when they were were used to carry knights wearing their hideously heavy armour.
