Note : this tavern was sometimes listed as the New House Inn. The canalside building has been demolished, though the adjacent cottage has survived.

I have not researched this public-house in any detail. However, I thought I would include the names of a few licensees. Oh, and an old map extract. So, better than a blank page but a lot of work needed. In the meantime, there is a lot of information on Staffordshire dotted around the website - click here for a suitable starting place.

Licensees of the Newhouse Inn

1864 - Joseph Poole
1896 - Herbert Wilcox
1904 - William Cooper
Note : this is not a complete list of licensees for this pub. The dates of early licensees are sourced from trade directories, census data, electoral rolls, rate books and newspaper articles. Names taken from trade directories may be slightly inaccurate as there is some slippage from publication dates and the actual movement of people.
