Some history of the Millstone Inn at Tickhill in the county of Yorkshire
The Millstone Inn was rebuilt on the corner of Lindrick, where Castlegate and Westgate meet. However, the pub closed in 2019 and the building has since been converted into a small supermarket or convenience store.¹

I have placed an arrow next to the location of the former Millstone Inn as shown on a map published in 1884. The mill from which the inn took its signboard can be seen to the south, along, of course, with the castle.

Licensees of the Millstone Inn
1886 - Francis Asher
1899 - Robert Green
Note : this is not a complete list of licensees for this pub. The dates of early licensees are sourced from trade directories, census
data, electoral rolls, rate books and newspaper articles. Names taken from trade directories may be slightly inaccurate as there is some slippage from publication dates
and the actual movement of people.
Column-4
"Robert Green, of the Millstone Inn, Tickhill, was charged with permitting drunkenness, and Thomas Watson, hairdresser,
Tickhill, was summoned for being drunk on licensed premises, on the 11th September. The evidence of the police was that going to the inn they found Watson drunk. The
case for the defendants was that Green did not notice Watson was the worse for drink. At the suggestion of the police he asked Watson to leave. He then saw he did not
walk straight. Watson and another man had been bargaining about some property, and when he left the house he went to the lawyer's to get the bargain put in shape.
Witnesses were called to show that it was difficult to say that Watson was drunk. Some swore he was not the worse for drink. Green was fined 40s., and Watson 10s.
and costs."
